Johannes Kleinmann, Cello

Dr. Johannes Kleinmann, Cellist in Spokane Symphony and Principal Cellist of McCall Music Festival, is a native of Germany. He finished his undergraduate degrees in cello performance and cello pedagogy at the Musikhochschule Freiburg, studying with Adriana Contino. Additionally, he holds a Master of Music degree from Louisiana State University where he studied with Dennis Parker and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Texas, where he was awarded a teaching fellowship and studied with Eugene Osadchy. Johannes has been appointed to be on the faculty of the University of North Texas from Spring 2020 – Spring 2021. Johannes holds an active cello studio and he is the founder of KleinmannStrings.

         Johannes has been principal cellist of San Angelo Symphony, the Opera in the Ozarks Festival Orchestra and most recently the McCall Summer Festival 2016. Other orchestras he has performed in include the Baton Rouge Symphony, the Plano Symphony, Monroe Symphony and the Irving Symphony. Being an active performer and teacher, he is on the cello faculty at the University of North Texas. Johannes is a founding member of Music Innovates, an El Sistema based program in Spokane. Johannes is a coach at the Spokane Youth Symphony and he is a cello instructor at Holy Names Music Center.
